BTU & HP Sizing Calculator
Tailored for Malaysian tropical climate
Estimate based on standard room conditions. Actual requirements vary by insulation, windows, and local climate. Consult our technicians for precise sizing.
How the BTU Calculator Works
This calculator uses a standard formula adjusted for Malaysia's tropical climate. We apply a 25% tropical climate factor on top of the base BTU/m² rate (500 BTU per m²), which accounts for the consistently high humidity and heat load in the Klang Valley year-round.
What the Adjustments Mean
- Ceiling height: Rooms taller than 2.5m need 10% more cooling capacity to circulate conditioned air through a larger volume.
- Sun exposure: West-facing or full-sun rooms receive more radiant heat and need 10% more BTU. North-facing or shaded rooms can be sized 10% lower.
- Kitchen: An additional 4,000 BTU accounts for heat generated by cooking appliances.
- Occupants: Each person generates approximately 600 BTU/hr of body heat.
